Civil Engineer P.E. (Option to Underfill)

About the role

The Department of Water and Wastewater is seeking a Professional Engineer (P.E.) to lead design and construction of waterworks capital and maintenance projects. This full‑time, onsite position offers a salary of $133,460 per year and may be filled at the Civil Engineer level with a lower salary if needed.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex engineering design, planning, and construction oversight for potable water and wastewater projects.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate plans, specifications, and legal contracts for public bidding.
• Lead and mentor professional and technical staff, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Conduct engineering calculations, cost estimates, and technical studies to support project decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and at least three years of professional civil engineering experience, preferably in a water utility.
• Valid Nevada Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration or ability to obtain within six months.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering design principles, contract administration, and project management.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to work with officials, developers, and the public.
