About the role

The Eastern District of Texas is seeking a qualified attorney to join its Civil Division as an Assistant United States Attorney. The role involves representing the United States, its agencies, and offices in a broad range of civil litigation matters.

Key responsibilities

• Litigate claims involving health care fraud, environmental issues, defense procurement fraud, torts, administrative enforcement actions, Touhy matters, prisoner litigation, housing and employment discrimination, and disability rights.
• Conduct investigations, gather evidence, take testimony, draft briefs, and appear in court for hearings and trials.
• Manage case files from inception through resolution, adapting to increasingly complex assignments as experience grows.
• Collaborate with federal agencies and other stakeholders to ensure effective case strategy and compliance.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen or national.
• J.D. degree and active membership in good standing of a U.S. state bar.
• Residency within the district or within 25 miles of it.
• Successful completion of pre‑employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit, tax checks, and drug testing.
• Selective Service registration for applicable male applicants.
