City Driver – Freight Delivery (Class A CDL)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable City Driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the sales process. The role involves operating tractor‑trailer combinations, handling loads, and providing excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Operate tractor‑trailer combinations, including doubles and triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre‑trip and safety inspections.
• Hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, and other equipment.
• Secure freight with pallets, straps, rope, and other supplies.
• Repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous‑material regulations.
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays, arrivals, and equipment issues.
• Interact with customers to determine pick‑up or delivery needs and solicit additional business.

Required profile

• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous‑materials, and tank endorsements.
• Automatic transmission CDL restriction allowed.
• At least one year of recent driving experience or successful completion of a FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Meet all DOT regulatory requirements (FMCSA §391).
• Ability to perform basic math and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Physical ability to lift/carry freight up to 100 lb and sit for extended periods.
