Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 RPU

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 to join the Adoptions and Permanency Unit in Dalton. You will respond to reports of alleged child maltreatment, conduct assessments, and develop safety and permanency plans.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate timely, face‑to‑face responses to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conduct safety assessments.
• Develop and implement safety plans, conduct search efforts, and use Solution Based Casework (SBC).
• Partner with children and parents to create Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans.
• Complete genograms, collaborate with community partners, and ensure adequate visit frequency for safety and well‑being.
• Identify and address physical, educational, and mental health needs of children, parents, and foster parents.
• Establish and pursue permanency goals, maintain stable foster placements, and prioritize sibling placement.
• Maintain children’s connections to community, faith, extended family, and school.
• Document case activities within policy time frames and serve on after‑hours on‑call duty.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Two years of case management experience (or one year at the lower level Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1).
• Reliable transportation, auto insurance, valid driver’s license, and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass agency testing, background checks, and drug screening.
