Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services seeks a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 to provide investigative and comprehensive case management for children and families experiencing abuse or neglect. This entry‑level position reports to the Child Welfare Services Supervisor and is based in Cairo, Grady County.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment, conduct safety assessments, and develop immediate safety plans.
• Locate children and families when contact is lost, implement Solution Based Casework, and collaborate with community partners to create support systems.
• Develop and monitor Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans to achieve desired outcomes.
• Identify and address physical, educational, and mental health needs of children, parents, and foster parents.
• Establish permanency goals, ensure stable foster placements, and promote sibling placement whenever possible.
• Maintain documentation of case activities within policy timeframes and serve on after‑hours on‑call duty.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to pass agency testing, background checks, and drug screening.
• Willingness to travel using a privately owned vehicle for work‑related duties.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
