Child Protection Assistant

About the role

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional and results-oriented Child Protection Assistant in Decatur, IL. Under the immediate supervision of a Child Protection Specialist, the assistant drives or travels with specialist staff to homes to assist in investigations of complaints about child abuse and neglect, and helps conduct interviews with children and families in their homes and in the community.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as Child Protection Assistant and accompany specialists to homes for investigations of child abuse and neglect complaints.
• Observe children and report to the Child Protection Specialist any unusual behaviour relating to their mental, social adjustment and overall health.
• Communicate to clients the services available through DCFS and private agencies.

Required profile

• Excellent organizational skills and strong communication skills.
• Passion for children and interest in helping ensure their safety.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the state does not sponsor employment visas.

What we offer

• Anticipated starting salary of $4,168 per month, with a full range of $4,168 to $5,508 per month.
• Full-time, salaried position, Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, fully in the office.
