Chief Special Procedures Technologist – Interventional Radiology

About the role

The University of Miami UHealth SoLe Mia is looking for a Chief Special Procedures Technologist to lead its Interventional Radiology (IR) department. This senior position blends hands‑on technical work with oversight of equipment, staff, and regulatory compliance to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the IR suite, including supervision of radiographic equipment and personnel.
• Manage administrative duties, workflow efficiency, and budgetary compliance.
• Ensure adherence to state, federal, Joint Commission (JC) and American College of Radiology (ACR) regulations.
• Direct quality‑control activities for all IR accreditation programs on an annual basis.
• Perform a full range of IR procedures to support technologists and physicians.
• Provide on‑call coverage and support to IR providers under radiologist supervision.
• Apply radiation‑protection principles to minimize exposure for patients and staff.
• Orient new hires and lead in‑service training and coaching programs.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing an Interventional Radiology department or similar high‑technology imaging unit.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise technologists and coordinate complex procedural workflows.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory standards (JC, ACR) and Florida radiation‑protection statutes.
• Willingness to provide on‑call support and perform IR procedures as needed.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills for training and staff development.
