Chief or Senior Liability Trial Attorney

About the role

Zurich North America seeks an experienced trial attorney to lead complex liability litigation for our insureds. The role offers a hybrid work model with one day per week in our Pasadena office and the flexibility to manage your own practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all phases of high‑complexity liability cases, from evaluation and strategy through trial and post‑trial activities.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, manage discovery, and represent clients in court, arbitration, mediation, and administrative hearings.
• Collaborate with claims partners to develop case strategy, escalate significant issues, and use alternative dispute resolution when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate case files, ensure compliance with legal and confidentiality standards, and provide proactive client communication.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor and admission to the California Bar in good standing.
• Minimum 7 years (Senior) or 10 years (Chief) of litigation experience, with recent jury‑trial experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, mentor junior attorneys, and contribute to team‑based initiatives.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using Adobe for document handling.
• Research skills with Lexis or Westlaw.
