Chief Financial Officer

About the role

Fairstead, a real estate firm focused on affordable housing, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to drive financial and operational strategy across its corporate platform. Reporting directly to the CEO, the role sits at the intersection of financial strategy and technology, covering financial planning, capital strategy and the systems infrastructure supporting a national platform. The company is actively investing in digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead corporate financial strategy, turning long-range objectives into financial plans and performance targets across all business lines
• Implement and scale financial systems, processes and controls, and own annual budgeting, multi-year forecasting and scenario planning
• Maintain a corporate financial model and define and monitor KPIs and financial health metrics
• Build and own the corporate reporting infrastructure, developing reporting packages that combine performance, progress and risk
• Drive data-driven decision-making and ensure budget owners can act on their numbers
• Partner with IT to evaluate technology investments against business cases and ROI, and to design data and reporting systems from consolidation tools to dashboards
• Deploy AI-driven analytics and automated reporting to improve efficiency and accuracy

Required profile

• 12+ years of progressive financial leadership at platform or enterprise level, owning corporate financial planning, multi-year forecasting and executive reporting in a complex, multi-entity organization
• Strong command of financial systems and reporting infrastructure, with hands-on experience selecting and implementing FP&A platforms, BI tools and/or ERP integrations
• Experience deploying AI and automation in financial workflows, with measurable results
• Exceptional analytical and communication skills, able to turn complex models into executive-ready insights
• Strategic mindset, comfort with ambiguity and fluency across finance and technology
