Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Fairfield, TX

About the role

The Chief Financial Officer will join Community Hospital Corporation as the senior finance leader for Freestone Medical Center, a Critical Access Hospital in Fairfield, TX. Reporting jointly to the local Hospital CEO and CHC’s SVP of Hospital Financial Operations, the CFO provides strategic direction, ensures regulatory compliance, and oversees all financial functions of the rural hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, CAH accreditation standards, and CHC system‑wide financial policies.
• Participate in the development and execution of the facility’s strategic plan and long‑term growth initiatives.
• Lead budgeting, capital planning, cost reporting, revenue‑cycle management, and treasury activities.
• Oversee audit, tax, purchasing, real‑estate, insurance, and payroll functions.
• Prepare and present periodic financial and operating reports to leadership, board members, and external stakeholders.
• Foster relationships with lenders, the financial community, medical staff, volunteers, and community representatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in hospital or health‑care finance, preferably within a Critical Access Hospital environment.
• Strong knowledge of CAH reimbursement principles, cost‑report optimization, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to lead finance teams and collaborate with senior executives.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
