Chief Estimator

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing concrete and masonry subcontractor in the NYC construction market, is seeking a Chief Estimator to own the estimating function. This senior leader will set standards for precision, client engagement, and team performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a small estimating team, establishing performance expectations and mentoring practices.
• Serve as the final authority on all estimates prior to submission and enforce estimating standards, procedures, and quality controls.
• Represent the company in pre‑bid meetings, client presentations and scope review discussions, maintaining strong relationships with owners, GCs, suppliers and vendors.
• Oversee complex quantity take‑offs for concrete and rebar, read and analyze structural, architectural and MEP drawings, and prepare complete bid packages.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of concrete and masonry construction estimating experience.
• 3–5 years in a senior or lead estimating role with direct reports.
• Deep familiarity with the NYC construction market, costs, labor and code requirements.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Required skills

• Expert‑level proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam or On‑Screen Takeoff.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in the full Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, structural drawings and specifications.
