Building Inspector - Houston 1

About the role

The Plumbing Inspector will conduct trade‑specific inspections of plumbing systems on data‑center projects throughout the Fairfield area and surrounding Texas counties. The role ensures new construction, upgrades and existing facilities comply with the International Plumbing Code, Texas regulations and client standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review construction drawings, specifications and single‑line diagrams for compliance with IPC/UPC and client data‑center standards.
• Perform on‑site inspections of water‑distribution piping, drainage, fire‑suppression, condensate, cooling‑tower and mechanical‑room plumbing.
• Verify contractors follow approved plans and quality‑control checklists, identifying deviations and recommending corrective actions.
• Prepare written and electronic inspection reports, Notices of Correction and maintain accurate logs and photographic records.
• Communicate code requirements and corrective actions to owners, contractors and the public.
• Support business‑development activities such as outreach, permit‑processing assistance and proposal preparation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; associate degree in Plumbing Technology, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years journey‑level experience in municipal or commercial plumbing inspection, construction or QA/QC.
• Valid Texas Plumbing Inspector or Master/Journeyman plumber license and ICC plumbing certification.
• Valid Texas driver’s license; OSHA 30‑hour certification preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop.
• Experience using inspection management systems, digital forms and basic CAD/plan‑review tools such as AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
• Use of digital cameras and photo‑editing software for documentation.
