Chief Engineer

About the role

Red 6 is seeking a Chief Engineer to set technical direction for a groundbreaking airborne augmented reality system. You will own the system architecture, make critical design decisions, and shape the technical future of the company.

Key responsibilities

• Drive end‑to‑end architecture of the airborne AR system, integrating hardware and software.
• Conduct trade studies, make critical design calls, and translate customer requirements into system specifications.
• Work directly with government customers to anticipate needs and guide the technical roadmap.
• Lead cross‑functional teams across hardware, software, optics, systems, and flight test.

Required profile

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of system engineering, hardware design, and technical leadership in defense, aerospace, or related industries.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Required skills

• System architecture design for combined hardware/software systems.
• Experience with sensors (camera, time‑of‑flight) and image processing.
• AR/VR hardware experience (e.g., Rift, VIVE, Gear VR).
• Requirements management tools such as Jama or DOORs.
