Charge Nurse (RN) - CVICU

About the role

AdventHealth Littleton is hiring a full-time Charge Nurse (RN) for its CVICU, working night shifts. The role coordinates patient care across departments including PACU, inpatient units, radiology and anesthesia, supervises nursing assistants and support staff, and manages the daily endoscopy schedule and staffing. The position is based in Littleton, Colorado.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments and medical orders, and monitor and document patient progress
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists and other providers to coordinate patient care
• Prioritize patients by acuity and urgency, respond to emergencies and stabilize patients
• Manage daily schedules, the endoscopy schedule, staffing and equipment availability
• Supervise nursing assistants and support staff, evaluate their performance and ensure adherence to care standards
• Educate patients and families about care plans, treatments and health management
• Take part in quality improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Current nursing license and knowledge of nursing care requirements for patients on the unit
• Supervision experience and skills
• Ability to use abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions and revise care plans
• Effective communication in English, verbal and written; additional languages preferred
• Teamwork, critical thinking, prioritization and problem-solving skills

Required skills

• Basic computer skills, navigating Microsoft Windows-based programs
• Able to accurately document in the electronic medical record
• Cerner (preferred)
