Charge Nurse – Registered Nurse Supervisor

About the role

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Charge Nurse to lead nursing care at the Georgia Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Decatur. This full‑time position oversees patient care for individuals with profound to severe developmental disabilities who require skilled nursing services.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, guide, and assign work to nursing staff on the unit.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for the assigned shift.
• Ensure accurate assessment of patient health problems and development of care plans.
• Maintain precise medical records and oversee quality of nursing services.
• Provide clinical guidance on policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Advise patients on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment planning.
• Coordinate staffing, assignments, and daily nursing operations.
• Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and regulations.

Required profile

• Current Georgia RN license.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (minimum) with at least four years of nursing experience, including two years in a supervisory role, or one year at RN3 level.
• Preferred BSN degree.
• Experience in long‑term/geriatric care and with patients requiring G/J tubes, tracheostomies, or seizure disorder management.
• Experience with mental health or developmental disability populations is a plus.
