Certified Surgical Tech

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Certified Surgical Tech for its Lake Wales facility in Florida. This is a full-time day-shift position supporting the surgical team during operations.

Key responsibilities

• Check supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures, including scrubs, gowns and gloves.
• Set up the sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and medications, knowing the procedure and patient positioning.
• Perform counts with the circulator before the operation and before closing the incision.
• Gown and glove the surgeon and assistants.
• Help with draping the sterile field and pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon.
• Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique and prepare sterile dressings and instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assist with terminal cleaning of the room and prep for the next patient, and handle surgical specimens accurately.
• Recognize and respond immediately to emergency situations, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent, with completion of a technical or vocational school program.
• State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NBSTSA CST, or NCCT TS-C certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
• Preferred: associate degree and 2+ years as a certified surgical tech.

Required skills

• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment and sterile field setup.
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques.
• Ability to anticipate critical emergencies and to organize and run in-services on the unit.
• Proficiency in at least two surgical specialties preferred.

Pay range: $23.10 - $42.96. Florida Level 2 background screening applies to certain positions.
