Certified Sterile Processing Technician - Central Supply (3pm-11pm)

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a Certified Sterile Processing Technician for its Central Supply department, working full time from 3pm to 11pm. The role covers the decontamination, sterilization and inventory of surgical instruments and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze the operating room schedule to identify instrument needs.
• Remove soiled equipment from Patient Care Units, surgery, laboratory and emergency department when necessary.
• Assist with the operation of washers, decontaminators, steam sterilizers, ultrasonics, incubators, Sterrad and Steris sterilizers and heat sealers, following manufacturer instructions.
• Decontaminate instruments according to hospital policy while wearing personal protective equipment.
• Maintain sterile core hygiene, re-stock supplies and keep up to date on new equipment and products through in-services.
• Create accurate case carts using resource maps and pick tickets, and replace inventory and put away returned supplies.
• Maintain inventory and process instruments using instrument tracking software, and inspect instruments to ensure they work properly.
• Ensure sterility is established and maintained, keep sterilization records and logs, and schedule instrument sharpening.
• Receive products, place orders for new ones, and coordinate with the Operating Room Manager.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent; sterile processing certification is preferred.
• Prior hospital experience.
• Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs and carry up to 50 lbs, and to work in a stressful environment.
• Completion of annual Joint Commission mandatory education, in-services, health requirements and TB/PPD surveillance, and maintenance of required licenses or certifications.
