Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

About the role

At Ochsner Health, you will administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical, obstetrical and other pain‑producing procedures under physician supervision, working alongside residents, fellows, attendings and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Document patient procedures and incidents.
• Assess patients before, during and after anesthesia administration.
• Ensure patient safety by following accepted anesthesia techniques.
• Act as liaison to surgeons, anesthesiologists, co‑workers, patients and families.
• Participate in department quality‑assurance initiatives and professional development activities.
• Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, respecting privacy and communication preferences.

Required profile

• Master’s degree from an AANA‑accredited nurse‑anesthesia program.
• Active APRN license in the state of practice.
• Certification through the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays and on‑call.

Required skills

• Computer data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and keyboard use.
