Certified Pharmacy Technician with Immunizations

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Certified Pharmacy Technician with Immunization certification for its pharmacy in Prairie Village. The role supports pharmacists in prescription preparation and distribution while administering vaccines as allowed by law, and covers prescription processing, insurance billing, customer service and inventory. The position is hourly and reports to the pharmacy manager and staff pharmacists.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers, answer simple inquiries and handle prescription orders and refill requests at the discretion of the supervising pharmacist
• Gather patient information, prepare and label prescriptions, and file dispensed prescriptions
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third-party billing and troubleshooting
• Order, receive and stock pharmacy supplies and log invoices
• Process cash transactions accurately
• Administer vaccines in line with CPR and Immunization Certification requirements
• Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy, keep patient information confidential under HIPAA, and follow all pharmacy statutes and regulations
• Help in other store areas as needed and take on special projects

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified as a licensed technician through a certified national program, with continuing education kept up
• CPR and Immunization Certification, maintained with continuing education
• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk preferred
• Vaccination certification where required by law

The work is fast-paced in a retail pharmacy, with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals or solvents during compounding; safety training is provided. Employment is contingent on a pre-employment drug screen.
