Certified Nursing Assistant – Surgery (Full-Time)

About the role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will provide direct patient care in the Surgery unit of the University of Miami Hospital & Clinics – SoLe MIA. This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday) working onsite in North Miami.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patients with personal hygiene assistance, including bedpans, showers, and grooming.
• Assist with meals, feeding, ambulation, turning, positioning, and ensure patients stay hydrated.
• Administer enemas, douches, non‑sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, therapeutic baths, and apply restraints when needed.
• Perform urine testing, specimen collection, and post‑mortem care.
• Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests.
• Maintain a safe environment, transport patients and equipment, and keep work areas clean.
• Report patient conditions to the assigned nurse for professional assessment.
• Measure and record food and fluid intake, output, and vital signs.
• Assist patients with walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed.
• Follow University and unit policies, safeguarding assets and adhering to safety standards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid State of Florida CNA license.
• 0‑1 year of experience in a clinical setting.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
