About the role

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) on the Michael Unit provides direct patient care within a correctional healthcare setting. The role supports the professional staff by ensuring patients receive safe, timely medication and basic health services while maintaining a secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and document vital signs, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Perform point‑of‑care testing and report results.
• Assist with patient hygiene, oral suctioning, wound and skin care, ostomy care, and catheter management.
• Support feeding, ambulation, positioning, and mobility assistance.
• Administer and document medications for both general and segregation populations, following Texas Title 40 regulations.
• Maintain drug room security, restock supplies, and enter medication compliance into the pharmacy computer system.
• Interview incoming patients, complete screening forms, and coordinate psychiatric referrals.
• Uphold patient privacy, confidentiality, and basic cost‑containment practices.

Required profile

• Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification.
• Ability to work safely in a correctional environment and follow strict regulatory guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks within specified timeframes.
