About the role

The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) on the Michael Unit provides essential patient‑care support within a correctional health‑care setting. Working under the direction of nursing staff, the CMA assists with daily living activities, health monitoring, and safe medication distribution for incarcerated individuals.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and document vital signs, height, weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimen collection.
• Perform Point‑of‑Care testing and report results promptly.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene, oral suctioning, wound care, skin care, and ostomy care.
• Support feeding, ambulation, positioning, and mobility for patients with limited movement.
• Administer and document medications in both general and segregation populations, ensuring compliance with Texas licensing standards.
• Maintain drug‑room security, restock supplies, and enter medication data into the pharmacy computer system.
• Observe and report patient safety concerns, including restraints and emergency situations.
• Interview incoming patients, complete screening forms, and assist with psychiatric referrals.

Required profile

• Certified Medication Aide (CMA) credential.
