Certified Medical Assistant - Breast Surgery

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant for its Breast Surgery clinic in Tampa, Florida. The role is full time on a day shift and involves supporting clinic operations, patient care and office compliance, travelling as needed to meet staffing needs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients and equipment for treatment, initiate testing and document results in the practice's system
• Maintain OSHA compliance and other office safety policies
• Provide whole care during office visits: intake, test results, screenings, labs, medication administration and closing care gaps
• Perform clinical intake including screenings, history taking, vital signs and medication reconciliation
• Assist with minor procedures and ensure accurate documentation
• Educate patients on tests, medications and diet
• Monitor and manage inventory of supplies and medical equipment
• Keep patient and employee information confidential and support colleagues and visitors

Required profile

• Certification: CMA, CMAC, RMA, NCMA, CCMA or NRCMA, plus Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR)
• High school graduate or equivalent
• 1+ year of related work experience preferred
• English fluency and computer experience required

• Medical terminology and knowledge of chronic disease management
• Patient advocacy and use of internal and external resources
• Working well in fast-paced, stressful situations and making independent decisions within the scope of certification
