Certified Drug & Alcohol Specimen Technician (Independent Contractor)

About the role

ABW Compliance is seeking experienced, certified Drug & Alcohol Specimen Technicians to perform on‑site testing for major transportation providers across South & North Jersey, New York, and Southern Pennsylvania. This independent‑contractor position offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to work in a fast‑paced, safety‑critical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct DOT‑regulated drug and alcohol testing at airports, train yards, bus depots, and distribution centers.
• Prepare, submit, and track detailed paperwork within strict timelines.
• Maintain professional communication with site leadership and clients.
• Ensure confidentiality, discretion, and excellent customer service throughout each collection.
• Manage specimen shipping, record tracking numbers, and submit travel receipts.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; minimum age 18.
• Own a reliable vehicle and maintain a clean driving record.
• Pass a background check.
• Extreme attention to detail and willingness to travel to multiple collection sites.
• Comfortable using technology and Microsoft Office products.
• Self‑motivated to meet deadlines and handle variable work hours.

Required skills

• DOT urine collection procedures.
• Lifeloc Phoenix 6.0 BT breathalyzer operation.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
