Key responsibilities

• Recognize, manage and rehabilitate injuries for professional, amateur and recreational athletes.
• Provide injury‑prevention techniques and prepare athletes for practice or competition.
• Evaluate injuries, determine need for referral and maintain a medical file for each athlete.
• Implement treatment and rehabilitation programs under physician supervision and develop conditioning programs for injured and non‑injured athletes.
• In a clinical setting, perform comprehensive health reviews, provide oral reports to physicians, document visits, review post‑visit instructions and administer treatments as directed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Completion of an athletic training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
• Athletic Trainer Certification (ATC) from the National Athletic Trainers Board of Certification.
• State licensure as an Athletic Trainer if required by law.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
• Preferred: participation in additional training programs related to the ATC field.
