Certified Athletic Trainer

About the role

The Certified Athletic Trainer will join Cleveland Clinic’s Sports Medicine Center at the Independence Family Health Center, providing medical‑grade care to athletes of all levels. The role includes clinical duties, injury prevention, and collaboration with physicians and sports staff.

Key responsibilities

• Recognize, manage, and rehabilitate injuries for professional, amateur, and recreational athletes.
• Develop and implement injury‑prevention techniques and conditioning programs.
• Maintain medical files, act as liaison between physicians and athletes, and determine referral needs.
• Perform comprehensive health reviews, document visits, and assist with data collection under physician supervision.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and completion of an athletic training program accredited by CAATE.
• Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) credential from the NATABOC.
• State licensure (if required) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lb, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods, and possess corrected vision and hearing.

• Athletic training clinical skills, including emergency and acute care.
• Risk management and injury‑prevention knowledge.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) proficiency.
