Carpet and Floor Care Specialist

About the role

Georgetown University seeks a dedicated Carpet and Floor Care Specialist to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across its campuses. Working full‑time (40 hours per week) on‑site, you will follow a detailed cleaning plan and support the Facilities team in daily operations and emergency situations.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and maintain 28,000–35,000 sq ft of floor space each eight‑hour shift using standard equipment and supplies.
• Perform snow and ice removal, and assist with water or fire‑damage cleanup.
• Provide floor‑care support for special events and other ad‑hoc tasks as directed.
• Represent the Custodial department professionally with students, staff, and visitors.
• Collaborate with other Facilities staff, adapting schedules for emergencies or staffing shortages.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team, following supervisor guidance.
• Commitment to safety rules, attendance policies, and accurate time‑keeping.
• Physical stamina to handle manual cleaning tasks and occasional outdoor work.
• Flexibility to respond to emergency situations such as snow removal or spills.
