Electrical Engineer – Planning & Facilities Management

About the role

The Electrical Engineer in the Office of Engineering and Utilities provides expert analysis, recommendations, and technical leadership for multi‑discipline building projects across Georgetown University campuses. The role oversees electrical systems, ensures reliable and cost‑effective maintenance, and drives energy‑efficiency initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support project development, performing design and construction reviews for compliance with Georgetown University standards and best practices.
• Identify and correct deficiencies in medium‑voltage and low‑voltage electrical systems to optimize performance and reliability.
• Train maintenance staff on best practices for electrical system design, operation, and preventive maintenance.
• Develop, enhance, and track preventive‑maintenance programs to improve system performance, safety, and energy efficiency.
• Assess building inventory, create capital‑plan recommendations, and oversee implementation of discipline‑specific projects.
• Create and maintain design standards and specifications for electrical and related divisions.

Required profile

• Strong background in electrical engineering with experience in planning, facilities management, and multi‑discipline building projects.
• Proven ability to manage electrical engineering projects from concept through construction documents or program implementation.
• Experience serving as a technical liaison for energy‑partnership initiatives.
• Capability to develop engineering solutions for corrective action, energy efficiency, and code compliance.
