HVAC Mechanic

About the role

The HVAC Mechanic provides technical trades work to maintain heating, ventilating, air‑conditioning and refrigeration equipment for Georgetown University’s facilities management department. This full‑time position supports building users on the Main Campus, ensuring a comfortable, safe, and clean environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage repairs and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including DDC/energy‑management panels, pneumatic thermostats, actuators, air distribution lines, compressors, dryers, filters, and PRV stations.
• Perform journeyman‑level maintenance and repairs in accordance with industry standards.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and respond to unscheduled service calls, overhauls, replacements, and surveys.
• Use standard trade tools, equipment, and supplies while observing all safety regulations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of experience in commercial and residential HVAC/refrigeration.
• Universal EPA CFC certification.
• Completion of an apprenticeship or four years of equivalent training in the HVAC/refrigeration trade.
• General knowledge of DDC/EMS computer controls and pneumatic controls.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Valid driver’s permit from Maryland, District of Columbia, or Virginia.
