Career Advisor – Temporary

About the role

The Career Advisor will support students, alumni, and employers on Northeastern's Boston campus by providing individualized career coaching, delivering workshops, and assisting with program design and events. This is a temporary position reporting to an Associate Director in the Career Development department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group career advising, covering job search strategies, resume and portfolio development, interview preparation, and offer evaluation.
• Design, deliver, and continuously improve programming such as industry exploration sessions, networking events, mock interviews, career fairs, and salary negotiation workshops.
• Assist with special projects and initiatives, including career fairs, employer visits, and networking events, handling ideation, planning, logistics, and execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience in career services, recruiting, workforce development, or higher education.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to build authentic relationships across diverse cultures and a commitment to inclusive practice.

Required skills

• Proficiency with career management platforms such as Handshake.
• Experience using labor market intelligence tools like Lightcast and LinkedIn Talent Insights.
• Familiarity with AI‑enabled career development tools (preferred).
