Cardiovascular Technician

About the role

The Cardiovascular Technician supports physicians in diagnosing heart and vascular conditions using both non‑invasive and invasive imaging technologies. The position works days from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM with on‑call responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist nursing and medical staff during cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and related procedures, including scrubbing, monitoring, and equipment setup.
• Perform pre‑procedure preparation, post‑procedure care, patient disposition, and documentation of medications and supplies.
• Interpret basic EKGs, 12‑lead ST segments, and arterial/venous pressure readings; recognize arrhythmias and ischemic patterns.
• Maintain equipment, perform calibration checks, and report malfunctions promptly.

Required profile

• Certificate from a Cardiovascular Lab Technology program or equivalent education accepted by RCIS/RCES.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Ability to lift 50 lb unassisted and heavier items with assistance.

Required skills

• Echocardiography and vascular ultrasound imaging.
• Cardiovascular catheterization, stent insertion, balloon angioplasty, and pacemaker implantation.
• Basic EKG interpretation, 12‑lead ST analysis, and arrhythmia recognition.
• Arterial and venous pressure monitoring and three‑dimensional mapping system operation.
