Cardiothoracic Surgeon (Physician)

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking an experienced cardiothoracic surgeon to join its surgical team in New Orleans. The physician will diagnose, treat, and manage complex conditions of the heart, lungs, esophagus and other thoracic organs, delivering high‑quality surgical care.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat cardiovascular and thoracic diseases, including detailed patient history and examinations.
• Perform advanced surgical procedures such as valve replacements, aortic valve replacement, and heart‑lung transplantation.
• Develop comprehensive care plans and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including consulting physicians, nurses, patients and families.
• Participate in clinical education, research, and quality improvement initiatives within the department.

Required profile

• Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and completion of an accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency.
• Active medical license to practice in the state of Louisiana.
• Demonstrated expertise in thoracic and cardiac surgery with a commitment to patient‑centered care.

Required skills

• Cardiothoracic surgical techniques, including valve replacement and heart‑lung transplantation.
• Proficiency in pre‑operative assessment and post‑operative management of thoracic patients.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary clinical teams.
