Cardiac & Vascular Sonographer (PRN) with Hospital Call

About the role

The Cardiac & Vascular Sonographer performs advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures, provides hospital call coverage, and serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff. This PRN position requires independent operation of imaging equipment and adherence to safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Verify physician orders, explain procedures to patients, and operate ultrasound equipment according to protocol.
• Review and ensure diagnostic quality of images before transmission, and complete required quality‑control documentation.
• Lead departmental programs, develop protocols, and support accreditation and safety initiatives.
• Assist in orientation and training of junior staff and provide feedback for performance evaluations.

Required profile

• Completion of a CAHEA‑approved diagnostic medical sonography program.
• Minimum 5 years of sonographer experience.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification with advanced specialty certification as needed.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Required skills

• Proficiency with diagnostic ultrasound equipment for cardiac and vascular imaging.
• Experience using radiology information systems and related software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including on‑call, weekends, and holidays.
