Cardiac Sonographer – Diagnostic Imaging

About the role

The Cardiac Sonographer will join Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital to perform echocardiogram studies, providing critical diagnostic information on patients' cardiac health. The role involves collaboration with physicians in the cardiac catheterization lab and operating room, supporting high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic echocardiogram procedures, evaluating blood flow, valve function, and chamber size.
• Set up, adjust, and manually maneuver ultrasound equipment and transducers for routine and complex studies.
• Assist physicians during imaging procedures in the cath lab and operating room.
• Implement safety standards, conduct quality‑control checks, and recognize artifacts or equipment limitations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in sonography or vascular technology, or graduate of an accredited cardiac ultrasound program.
• Two years of full‑time echo experience or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Obtain RDCS or RCS credential within one year of hire.

Required skills

• Proficiency with m‑mode, 2D, and Doppler ultrasound techniques.
• Knowledge of cardiac hemodynamics and calculations.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot cardiac ultrasound equipment.
• Familiarity with computer systems and related imaging software.
