Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeon

About the role

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeons to join its award‑winning Heart and Vascular Institute. The position offers a diverse case mix, supportive colleagues, and a dedicated ICU with anesthesia attending.

Key responsibilities

• Perform adult cardiac procedures including CABG, AVR, aortic dissection repair, ECMO, Impella support, and TAVR.
• Conduct general thoracic surgeries such as thoracotomy, lung resections, chest tube management, decortication, and repair of esophageal perforations.
• Execute endovascular interventions like TEVAR and assist with robotic‑assisted cases.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide on‑call coverage with balanced call distribution.

Required profile

• Board‑certified/board‑eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery with a valid Pennsylvania medical license or ability to obtain one.
• Training and/or experience in both adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery, including the listed procedures.
• Commitment to continuous medical education and participation in research initiatives.

Required skills

• Adult cardiac surgery techniques (CABG, AVR, aortic dissection, ECMO, Impella, TAVR).
• General thoracic surgery techniques (thoracotomy, lung resection, chest tube management, decortication, esophageal perforation repair).
• Endovascular skills (TEVAR).
• Robotic surgery experience (preferred).
