Buyer – Procurement Specialist for Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Buyer to manage the procurement of raw materials, equipment, supplies and services essential for continuous plant operations at our chemical manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will play a key role in supporting production schedules, cost control and supplier relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Purchase and expedite delivery of raw materials, spare parts, equipment and services to maintain uninterrupted plant operations.
• Negotiate contracts and purchase agreements for new projects under management direction.
• Communicate order status and purchasing needs across all departments.
• Conduct supplier audits and manage vendor relationships.
• Prepare, issue and analyze RFQs, purchase orders and requisitions for accuracy.
• Maintain and retrieve purchasing records, ensuring compliance with contracts.
• Analyze market trends to make informed buying decisions and support strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Participate in meetings and respond to emergency calls outside regular hours when required.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field preferred.
• Minimum three years of experience in purchasing, procurement or related functions.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work independently and maintain attention to detail.
• Willingness to work in an office environment and occasional on‑site manufacturing areas.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Commercial negotiation abilities.
• Knowledge of RFQ preparation and supplier audit processes.
