About the role
The Heavy Mobile Equipment Operator II works in scrap operations, operating various mobile equipment such as hydraulic grapple cranes and front‑end loaders to process, handle, and weigh scrap material. The role involves loading and unloading scrap, ensuring safety, and maintaining equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Operate mobile equipment safely, including hydraulic grapple crane, magnet crane, and front‑end loader.
- Unload scrap from incoming sources and load scrap onto transport or processing equipment.
- Inspect scrap for quality, grade, and safety, and sort material accordingly.
- Record weight, product, and location of material accurately.
- Perform routine equipment care such as lubrication, fueling, and cleaning.
- Communicate hazards and equipment issues to relevant personnel.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 1‑3 years of mobile equipment experience preferred.
- Physical ability to lift up to 70 lbs, work in extreme temperatures, and tolerate noise up to 120 dB.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.
Required skills
- Operation of hydraulic grapple crane, magnet crane, and front‑end loader.
- Basic computer and math skills.
