Business Insurance Marketing Lead

About the role

Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) is looking for a Business Insurance Marketing Lead to coordinate marketing for new and renewal business while supporting the Producer's sales efforts. The role applies strong coverage and underwriting knowledge, including carrier guidelines, alternative funding arrangements and legislative changes, and builds lasting relationships with clients, carrier representatives and teammates.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the consultative point of contact for the client on coverages and marketing matters, identifying needs and giving recommendations with rationale, with little or no oversight from the Producer.
• Assist the producer in sales, including responding to Requests for Proposals, taking part in prospect meetings and selling additional lines and endorsements.
• Build and maintain client and carrier relationships by phone, email and in person.
• Coordinate with local and national leadership to drive line-of-business strategy and best practices.
• Negotiate pricing, policy conditions and terms with carriers and choose the best carrier(s) within marketing guidelines.
• Lead the renewal process, prepare company applications and submissions, and present coverage and renewal recommendations to the client.
• Direct renewal strategy, mid-year reviews and annual stewardship meetings as requested, and visit prospects and clients with the Producer or teammates.
• Mentor account team members, back up account teams on interim marketing or technical support, and attend seminars and carrier meetings to stay current on products and legislation.

Required profile

• Five years of relevant insurance industry experience.
• Appropriate insurance license(s).
• Knowledge of markets, policies and coverage issues for all states and industries serviced.
• Ability to travel overnight.

Required skills

• Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
• Understanding of client management systems and other relevant technology platforms.
• Strong communication, negotiation, organizational and leadership skills.
