Business Development Director

About the role

IQVIA, a global provider of clinical research services, commercial insights and healthcare intelligence, is looking for a Business Development Director in Carlsbad. The role secures and retains business through professional, consultative, proactive sales directed at decision-makers and decision influencers at existing and new clinical sponsors. Candidates must reside in the same country as the job.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect and develop new business opportunities within specified customer accounts and build long-term relationships with key decision-makers.
• Maintain knowledge of IQVIA services for cross-sell opportunities and monitor competitors' activities, positioning and pricing.
• Analyze opportunities, develop sales plans and propose the right strategy and solution, then coordinate contracts and proposals.
• Work with operations and functional managers to prepare and lead sales presentations, educate the team and handle follow-up and contractual documents.
• Keep customers informed, plan and coordinate sales activities, and record them in the CRM system.
• Prepare sales activity reports for Sales Management and act as liaison between the customer and IQVIA's technical and operational groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business management.
• 12 years of related experience, including 5 years in a relevant industry (CRO/pharmaceutical) and/or sales, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Proven track record with mid-level and high-level contacts.
• 40% travel required depending on location.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of commercialization and the principles of drug discovery and development.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent use of Microsoft Office Suite: PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
• Excellent oral and written communication and relationship-building skills.

The potential base pay range, annualized, is $111,200 to $309,800, depending on qualifications, location and schedule; incentives, bonuses and benefits may also apply.
