About the role
The School Bus Monitor ensures the safety and discipline of K‑8 students on the bus serving Classical Charter Schools of Whiteville. The role involves supervising loading and unloading, maintaining order, and supporting the bus driver and school staff.
Key responsibilities
- Direct student loading and unloading to prevent congestion and unsafe conditions.
- Verify students are seated correctly and released to the proper guardians at each stop.
- Monitor behavior on the bus, enforce bus rules, and prevent altercations.
- Keep the bus interior clean, pick up trash, and report any malfunctions.
- Participate in safety drills and assist at railroad crossings when required.
Required profile
- Prior experience in early‑childhood educational settings is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with children, parents, drivers, and staff.
- Strong problem‑solving and reasoning abilities.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and maintain accurate time‑keeping records.
