Building Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

The Building Maintenance Supervisor leads a team of custodial and maintenance staff to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of facilities. This position oversees daily cleaning, routine repairs, and preventive maintenance across a wide range of building systems.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, evaluate, hire, and discipline custodial and maintenance personnel.
• Develop and manage shift schedules, approve time‑off requests, and conduct performance appraisals.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor maintenance of structural elements, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire‑sprinkler, alarm systems, and furnishings.
• Inspect work performed by internal staff and external contractors for compliance with standards.
• Maintain construction drawings, equipment logs, preventive‑maintenance histories, and contractor performance records.
• Prepare specifications, requisitions, and purchase orders for materials, tools, and supplies.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and MSDS safety requirements.
• Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, obtaining quotes and placing orders as needed.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of modern office procedures and computer applications.
• Proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Experience in employee supervision and performance management.
• Familiarity with custodial practices, building‑maintenance techniques, and skilled trades such as plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
