About the role
The State of Georgia is seeking a Budget Analyst 3 to support financial planning and analysis for agency programs, with a focus on Infant & Child Health Promotion and Essential Health Treatment Services. This full‑time position works under general supervision to develop, revise, and monitor budgets and related financial reports.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze agency budgeting and accounting reports to maintain expenditure controls.
- Develop, prepare, and revise annual operating, capital, and zero‑base budgets in line with appropriations.
- Examine budget estimates for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain financial records, documentation, and audit trails.
- Assess financial data to determine resource requirements and analyze trends.
- Prepare statistical analyses, cost‑benefit studies, and budget amendments.
- Monitor budgets, identify variances, and propose corrective actions.
- Generate departmental, state, and federal financial reports as required.
Required profile
- Associate degree in accounting, business/public administration, or finance.
- Four years of fiscal analysis experience, or two years at a lower‑level Budget Analyst 2 position.
- Prior knowledge of Georgia’s budgeting structure is preferred.
