Budget Analyst 3

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Budget Analyst 3 to support financial planning and analysis for agency programs, with a focus on Infant & Child Health Promotion and Essential Health Treatment Services. This full‑time position works under general supervision to develop, revise, and monitor budgets and related financial reports.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze agency budgeting and accounting reports to maintain expenditure controls.
• Develop, prepare, and revise annual operating, capital, and zero‑base budgets in line with appropriations.
• Examine budget estimates for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain financial records, documentation, and audit trails.
• Assess financial data to determine resource requirements and analyze trends.
• Prepare statistical analyses, cost‑benefit studies, and budget amendments.
• Monitor budgets, identify variances, and propose corrective actions.
• Generate departmental, state, and federal financial reports as required.

Required profile

• Associate degree in accounting, business/public administration, or finance.
• Four years of fiscal analysis experience, or two years at a lower‑level Budget Analyst 2 position.
• Prior knowledge of Georgia’s budgeting structure is preferred.
