Strategic Finance Lead, Product & Engineering

About the role

Plaid is looking for a Strategic Finance Lead to partner with its Engineering and Product teams. You will own product‑level revenue and gross‑margin forecasting and build the analytical frameworks that guide capital deployment and resource allocation across critical product areas.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain revenue and gross‑margin forecasts for assigned product lines, combining bottom‑up builds with top‑down sanity checks.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leaders on headcount planning, roadmap‑based capacity forecasting, and operating expense discipline.
• Drive recurring performance reporting, KPI tracking, variance analysis, and early risk/opportunity identification.
• Serve as the primary finance liaison for Product and Engineering, coordinating with GTM Finance on go‑to‑market targets and economics.
• Contribute analysis and narrative to quarterly Board decks and ad‑hoc strategic reviews.
• Mentor junior Strategic Finance team members in financial modeling, analytical rigor, and stakeholder management.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, management consulting, investment banking, or private equity.
• Direct exposure to product or engineering finance within a high‑growth technology company.
• Strong understanding of product P&L mechanics, revenue and gross‑margin forecasting, headcount and capacity planning, and software unit economics.
• Ability to own ambiguous, judgment‑intensive problems with minimal oversight and know when to escalate.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of distilling complex analysis into clear narratives.
