Brand Controller, melin (Tradewind Services)

About the role

Archipelago Companies, a portfolio of consumer lifestyle brands including OluKai, melin, Roark and Tradewind Services, is hiring a Brand Controller for melin. The role owns the accounting function for melin and reports to the Corporate Controller, keeping the brand's books accurate, its close timely and its reporting clean in the consolidated results. It is a solid-line accounting role working closely with brand leadership, and may also support other accounting tasks across Tradewind Services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the brand's financial statements and reporting packages, review and approve journal entries, reconciliations and close schedules, and manage the monthly, quarterly and annual close calendar.
• Document brand-specific technical accounting matters (revenue recognition, leases, inventory) and apply company-wide accounting policies.
• Act as the main contact for external auditors, own the brand's internal controls, partner with legal on compliance, and manage accounting risks such as acquisitions, divestitures and restructuring.
• Lead, mentor and develop Accounting Managers, Senior Accountants and Staff Accountants, set priorities and manage workload.
• Partner with FP&A and brand leaders on financial planning and cash management, improve close processes using AI, and support due diligence and integration of new entities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a CPA.
• 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant time at a Big 4 or national public accounting firm.
• Prior Controller, Assistant Controller or Senior Accounting Manager experience, ideally in a multi-entity or multi-brand organization.
• Intercompany, international accounting, transfer pricing, foreign currency and consolidation experience.
• Proven experience leading external audits and managing a team.

Required skills

• Deep technical GAAP expertise.
• ERP systems (FullCircle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics or similar); ERP transformation experience preferred.
• Reporting/consolidation tools (Domo, Adaptive Insights) a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, PE-backed, multi-brand environment.
