Boatman – Rowing Equipment & Boathouse Operations

About the role

The Boatman is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of rowing equipment and boathouse assets at Georgetown University. This role supports both men’s and women’s rowing programs, ensuring safe and reliable equipment for training and competition.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair rowing shells, riggers, seat tracks, oar handles, shafts, and blades, including fiberglass and carbon repairs, hull patching, painting, and Peach system installation.
• Service launches, engines, ergs, trailers, and related equipment; provide truck and trailer driving support for local and cross‑country events.
• Develop and enforce safe trailer‑loading protocols and manage equipment logistics for multiple programs.
• Contribute to the annual boathouse budget, covering equipment purchases, maintenance, gasoline, spare parts, safety gear, and registration fees.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of NCAA regulations and student‑athlete eligibility.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work with a diverse community.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record; ability to drive a truck and shell trailer.
• Availability for weekends and evenings; successful background check.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
