Bistro Server (PM Shift)

About the role

Courtyard by Marriott Alexandria Old Town/Southwest in Alexandria, VA, is hiring a bistro server for its hotel bistro. The role serves food and beverage to guests courteously and in line with brand and hotel guest service and sustainability standards. The schedule varies and may include holidays, weekends and alternate shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Serve food and/or beverage to guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Set up supplies, food and beverage at the start of the shift and keep the work area stocked.
• Take orders, input them, collect payment and give change.
• Communicate meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs and special requests to the kitchen.
• Prepare food, coffee and other beverages, including alcohol, when needed.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, such as portioning, chopping and storing food.
• Help with bartending and bussing during staffing shortages or peak periods.
• Count the bank at the end of the shift, complete cashier reports, resolve discrepancies, drop off receipts and secure the bank.
• Clean equipment and areas, lock equipment doors, and follow safe work habits, MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Ensure overall guest satisfaction and perform other duties requested by management.

Required profile

• Previous food and beverage experience or equivalent training required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, bend and reach.
