Area Sales Manager

About the role

The hotel is looking for an Area Sales Manager to manage accounts for a group of hotels, achieve guest satisfaction and solicit past and new business so that revenue goals are met or exceeded. The position is based at Courtyard by Marriott Alexandria Old Town/Southwest in Alexandria, VA, with moderate travel between hotels and client locations.

Key responsibilities

• Interview, select, train, schedule, coach and support associates so they meet brand and hotel standards.
• Sell all facets of the hotel to previous, current and potential clients and negotiate terms that satisfy internal and external customers.
• Manage accounts, making sure solicitation and closing are complete and documented, and coordinate departmental involvement in serving accounts.
• Maintain relationships with key accounts to increase satisfaction and revenue.
• Deliver persuasive verbal sales presentations and articulate the hotel's benefits to close deals.
• Travel locally for outside calls, promote the hotel and review the competition, and represent the hotel at trade shows.

Required profile

• Proven track record in sales required; previous hospitality sales experience preferred.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in hospitality or a related field preferred.
• Ability to sit for long periods, lift up to 10 pounds, bend and reach; occasional work on holidays and weekends.
