Birth Registration Clerk (HIM Associate)

About the role

R1 RCM is recruiting a Birth Registration Clerk (listed as HIM Associate) for an onsite position at Ascension St. John Hospital & Medical Center in Detroit. The role handles birth certificate reporting, prepares certificates according to state rules and regulations, and coordinates and organizes birth certificate information to ensure effective workflow and quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, review and process birth and death certificate applications efficiently.
• Authenticate identification and documentation to ensure compliance with legal standards and authenticity.
• Input and update vital records accurately in secure, confidential databases.
• Answer inquiries and assist the public, funeral homes, hospitals and law enforcement agencies on vital records.
• Work with physicians, coroners and other professionals to gather precise information and ensure timely submission of documents.
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying and document imaging to support office operations.

Required profile

• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) or vital records systems.
• US-based position.
