Biomedical Technician / Equipment Support Specialist – Level III

About the role

Blue Water Thinking is seeking a Level III Biomedical Technician / Equipment Support Specialist to join the VA Fargo Health Care team. The specialist will deliver corrective and preventive maintenance for a wide range of medical devices, ensuring reliable operation in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform corrective actions and preventive maintenance on medical equipment under direct supervision.
• Maintain daily records and generate data reports for scheduled work.
• Support integration and upgrade projects such as TV, TUG, Med‑gas, new EKGs, Philips upgrades, anesthesia cart upgrades, new beds, and dialysis pump inventory.
• Assist with CERNER system documentation and data entry.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting performing biomedical equipment maintenance.
• Associate degree or higher in an applied science field or equivalent military training.
• Experience within a medical center’s Biomedical Engineering department or the Veterans Health Administration, with knowledge of VISN and VA operations.
• Understanding of regulatory agency requirements, industry standards, and ISO guidelines.

Required skills

• Operational verification, planned maintenance, and repair of diverse medical devices.
• Setup and use of test equipment for equipment validation.
• Interpretation of technical literature, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Compliance with FDA, VA, and ISO regulatory standards.
• Proficiency with the CERNER health‑information system.
