Biomedical Engineering Support Specialist III

About the role

Aretum is looking for a Biomedical Engineering Support Specialist III to provide advanced biomedical engineering support to healthcare facilities, ensuring medical equipment is safe, functional and compliant with healthcare regulations. The role covers troubleshooting complex devices, preventive maintenance and training staff on equipment use and safety. The pay is $55,000 - $68,000 and the position requires Public Trust eligibility.

Key responsibilities

• Perform incoming and periodic inspections of new and current medical equipment
• Run quality assurance checks so equipment conforms to manufacturer literature for components, parts and performance
• Install, calibrate and test medical equipment in line with manufacturer literature and department authorization
• Manage inventory and assets of medical equipment and document according to VA processes
• Perform preventive maintenance checks and troubleshoot malfunctions to find the cause
• Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and document work in the VA's electronic system

Required profile

• At least five years of hospital or healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance
• Associate degree or higher in an applied science, or equivalent military training
• Ability to travel to client locations, which varies by project needs
• U.S. work authorization and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination; sponsorship is not available

Required skills

• Demonstrated competency in operational verification, planned maintenance and repair of medical equipment
• Understanding of regulatory and ISO standards
• Familiarity with setting up and using test equipment
